Music

Here are a few albums that I have come to love.

Guns 'N Roses, Chinese Democracy (2008) - One word, masterpiece. How else to described an 11 year venture costing close to 11 million? While I would have preferred some slash solos the album delivers with a delicate balance rock and radio hits. If the radio ever plays them. The production work on this album is nothing short of heaven. This album has been in major rotation at the office.

A+ on: Better, Shackler's Revenge, Catcher in the Rye

Metallica, Death Magnetic (2008) - Not a fan of Metallica, espcially since selling out in the early 90's. However I have to admit to at least liking Death Magnetic enough to purchase it (Like they need to money! Buy KsE instead). Now that Bob Rock is out of the picture, Rick Rubin has formulated a sound that is more Metallica than numetal pop. god what were they thinking?

A+ on: Cyanide, The End of the Line, The Judas Kiss.

Wicked Wisdom, Self-Titled Debut (2006) - For an actress, I have never been interested in Jada Pinkett Smith. However her band is quite interesting. The actual music itself is heavy and well produced, the singing sounds a lot like the old '90's girl bands, 7 Year Bitch, Courtney Love (somewhat) but she gives a good hearted try and with a little effort she starts to sound more like Morgan from Kittie in a her cleaner vocals.

A+ on: Bleed All Over Me, Don't Hate Me

Collision Course, Jay-Z and Linkin Park (2004) - I am not a big fan of Linkin Park and even less of Jay-z. I just never really listen to Jay-Z and linkin Park came across as a bunch of pussies trying to hard to be a metal band but still garnering a relatively pop market. The mix of the songs are well rounded and Numb/Encore is in the Miami Vice trailer.

A+ on: Numb/Encore, Dirt Off/Lying from You

Killswitch Engage, The End of Heartache (2004) - I didn't hear about the guys until this album and wow what an exceptional album it is. Its by far one of the best efforts in heavier music in quite some time. Written, recorded and produced solely by the band itself, the album is organized and ineresting throughout. Any given song can stand on its own or alone from the collective album. I went back and found the older albums but the polished and angst ridden voice of Howard Jones is not to be recokened with. Plus, whether it be Jones himself, or the band the lyrics are much better.
